Update Your Devices – Switching Sync Solution

Nobody’s perfect. But still, to have heard you, our audience, raise your voices about our slow or imperfect sync hurt. So we listened, and fixed the issue.

Two weeks ago, we released a new Sync stack providing faster and less error-prone synchronization. We are sure that those among you who’ve updated your iPhone and Android apps have already felt the difference in how much better the new sync is.

Time to update
Now, we want you ALL to experience great sync, so it is now time to update your devices. Please do so before August 15th. We will switch off the ‘old’ sync solution – without update you will not be able to update your device anymore.

Download the latest versions below, so you are all up to snuff:

- Windows Client
- Mac Client
- iPhone / iPad Client
- Android Client

Enjoy, and email us with any comments or questions.

Testing, testing, testing

From time to time vendors from afar and close pitch us their testing services. I can tell you we’re covered.

Today Chris and Felix spent an afternoon testing a major upgrade soon to be released for all our devices. They seized the meeting room and were off testing.

Quite an impressive array of notebooks, tablets and mobile devices, ranging from notebooks running Windows, Mac OS, Linux, to tablets (both Android, and iPad) plus a number of smartphones.

They told me just a few moments ago, that the tests very successful, so stay tuned for the upcoming release.

All new Android App!

As of today you may download the all new Memonic Android App. Note-taking on the go just became so much easier and fun.

Chris put in a lot of effort to make this a great productivity app with a ton of great features:

  • All new user interface – much cleaner, nicer and easier to use
  • Write a note, take a picture (and add a note)
  • Edit any note, create a folder, create tags
  • Organize all your notes in folders and with tags (groups for mobile collaboration are following shortly)
  • Share all your notes directly on Facebook, Twitter and by Email
  • Clip
  • Synchronize all your notes with your online Memonic account and access your notes from everywhere on every digital device.
  • And yes: All your notes are here for full offline viewing right from start including pictures and attachments!
  • Adjust your synchronization settings: When you want to sync (automatically), how you want to sync (any network or just Wifi to save on mobile charges), what you want to sync (everything, attachments & picture handling.

On the last points we’re particularly proud as many of you told us you were unhappy with the synchronization bit of competing apps because it was either not fully offline or you ended up with high roaming charges.

The Android App release is just the beginning of leaving the beta times behind us. Over the coming weeks you see from us an Android tablet app, a revamped iPhone and iPad app, a desktop app for Windows and Mac and an all new shiny Web interface. Actually you may have a sneak peak at the new Web interface in our Labs section. Just turn on the next generation UI.

As always we enjoy your feedback!

Memonic’s API – Make your App/Website/Webservice talk to Memonic

Two weeks ago, we introduced a new developer’s section on our website. You may be delighted to hear that with this new section, we offer an API: Application Programming Interface- allowing you and everyone else to connect your Website, Webservice or genius App with Memonic in order to enhance functionality of one’s own offering and gain new customers. Let our functionality and platform enhance yours – try it now, free!

The implementation is quite easy, a documentation is available. The only thing you need is an API key which you can order with us (also for free). Just drop us an email, and tell us if it’s for commercial or non-commercial use.

Important Note: If you feel that your favourite app, your favourite website or webservice definitely could benefit from integrating with Memonic, please send them a link them to this blog post. We’d be thrilled :)

Make the transition from Delicious to Memonic

Yesterday we all were caught by surprise by the rumor that Yahoo want’s to shut down Delicious. Too bad really. We loved Del.ico.us right from start.

A lot of you have been writing to us how to use Memonic as an alternative. A great idea: Memonic is a perfect alternative for Delicious with some additional twists

How to import your Delicous bookmarks into Memonic?

Immediate solution:

Step 1 – Export all you delicious bookmarks.

  • Go to the settings tab in Delicious
  • In the section bookmarks click export (See screenshot)

Step 2 – Compose an item

  • Open the exported file in a browser
  • Select all, copy all
  • In Memonic compose a new item (See screenshot)
  • Paste all

Done! See my result here.

All links work, and the whole collection is immediately full text searchable and available on all your mobile devices (http://m.memonic.com). One draw back: We do not provide currently for a full import of your tags. However, a solution is near – see next paragraph.

Near future solution:

We already started working hard on an importer for all your delicious bookmarks including tags and and extension to our interface to make room for tags. So you’ll basically have the same user experience plus more: You can save bookmarks but the essential of any webpage, email, picture, document, too!
