Macworld says: 4 stars (out of 5)

What a nice start into the weekend. Macworld UK did a review (900kb – pdf) of Memonic. They write “Fans of cloud-based bookmarking tool Delicious will be looking for something to fill a void now that the service is about to disappear. In Memonic, we think we’ve found the perfect replacement.”

And they continue, comparing us the the undisputed leader of the note-taking apps Evernote: “Having lived with it for a while, we’re actually more partial to Memonic than Evernote now.” Even comparing us to mighty Google: “It has clean lines and a no-nonsense interface, with the same frill-free feel as Google cloud applications.”

And their main grumble is about to be resolved: A missing Mac Desktop App. Say in a little more than a month. Stay tuned & Merci Beaucoup Macworld!

News Release: British Holiday-Planners Drowning in Sea of Online Research

Survey shows two thirds of GB web users are researching holidays online. The research, conducted online by Memonic and YouGov, found that only 15% of British travellers now use travel agents to research their holidays.

When it comes to researching and sharing information, British consumers appear to be stacking paper and stockpiling bookmarks on their PCs. Some 48% of online Brits who do their holiday research online stated that they print off their collated holiday research, whilst 33% use all their bookmarks.

Additionally, almost half (47%) of all GB adults online are interested in a tool which would save web content, make notes as they do their research and organise their holiday research.

News Release: Australien wind gust at the source of Memonic

Some three years ago a wind gust in Perth gave birth to Memonic. Suddenly all travel printouts were flying around in the park – Dorian had enough. Back home he discovered that two friends were thinking along the same lines. Three years later Memonic is an award wining clipping and online notebook website. Read what happened in between (in German).

Summer time and the living is easy. Well not for (all) students and professors. Either they prepare exams or prepare the new academic year approaching fast. In any case a lot of information gathering and capturing is involved. Get rid of your information chaos represented by a pile of unordered snippets. We think there is a better solution. Read the press release (German).
