[Tutorial] How to add a Memonic folder to iGoogle

We’ve recently been asked if you can add a Memonic folder to your iGoogle dashboard. Thanks to Memonic’s RSS capabilities and iGoogle’s capability to add any RSS feed as a gadget to your dashboard, that’s not going to be a huge issue. We just need to get around two little obstacles first.

In your Memonic account, select the folder you want to mirror in iGoogle. You can easily generate an RSS feed out of any folder in Memonic by adding “.atom” to the end of the URL displayed in your address bar. However, since some notes might be privat they won’t appear in iGoogle. To get around this, instead of just appending “.atom”, add “.atom?secure=oauth” and hit enter. You will be given a very long URL for the RSS feed that includes all your notes, regardless of scope (private, friends, public). This also implies a privacy issue – make sure you don’t give away this URL, otherwise anybody would be able to watch your notes. Now, this URL theoretically could be added to iGoogle. However, it seems that there’s an issue with such long URLs. Thus, we need to shorten it first.

Reach out to your favourite link shortening service and shorten the long URL. Now copy the short URL, open iGoogle, click “Add Gadget” on the left-hand side, scroll down to and click “Add Feed or Gadget” and paste the short URL in the field appearing. Click “Add” and return to your dashboard. Enjoy!

Account Management with Memonic for Salesforce

Salesforce is one of the most powerful CRM systems out there. It’s used by millions of people. Doubtlessly you’ve noticed that we released an extension to that superior platform. It basically combines the strength of Salesforce with the power of Memonic. Isn’t that genius?

Now, there are literally endless ways how to use our extension together with Salesforce. It eventually depends on what business you are in and what workflow you have in place. But one very common use case is preparing a key account meeting. I think we all agree that it’s totally essential to be well prepared for such a meeting. Research about a client throughout the web is time consuming and annoying since you usually end up copy and pasting to assemble a client dossier.

But that’s past. Powered by Memonic’s web clipper, collecting valuable data about a key account is a snap – and everything get’s centrally stored in your Salesforce account. Read our lips: no more copy-pasting, no more email deluge!
And it comes better: Share your research quickly and easily among your team or other peers in your organisation with the Chatter integration. This way you can keep them updated with relevant information about key accounts before they join the meeting. All in one place. Learn more here: http://salesforce.memonic.com/

Lessons and exams
At school, I tend to lose track over all upcoming exams and essays. Memonic helps me a lot to remember these things. As soon as a teacher announces an exam I grab my phone and create a new memo with all the necessary details and store it in my folder “Exams and essays” so I don’t forget them and there are no nasty surprises. At home I keep organised and see what’s next in terms of exams and can prepare in time. If I’d noted those deadlines manually I would have to search first where I jotted them down. As soon as a test is over or an essay is written, I simply delete the memo.

I especially like Memonic in my computer studies. We have to write HTML or Java code, or even implement some algorithms. That said, I simply store them in my Memonic collection for later use, without the need to carry an USB memory stick and keep it up-to-date. Just imagine if I lost that stick or forgot it somewhere? Everything would have been gone. With Memonic, I don’t have that problem.

Presentations
As a preparation for presentations at school, I do extensive research. Memonic is a huge help in this regard. First I add a new folder to my collection and then kick-off the gathering mode and select the recently created folder. Then I can start collecting information without the need to manually arrange the bits and pieces. Without Memonic I would quickly lose track of all my research. After I’m done with research, the little but powerful feature “copy to Word” helps me to get all the content I need into my speech notes, which I write in Word.

Job search
As school is over soon, I am looking for a job. Since I apply for a variety of jobs I don’t want to mess up with all the application. This could end up in quite embarrassing situations, e. g. if you forget that you already got a reply or had a call with a company. Invitations to job interviews can get forgotten easily if you don’t print it or store it anywhere centrally. For me, I just keep track of all those things in Memonic. It’s really helpful to keep track of all applications and job profiles so you don’t mess up with them when you have many to keep track of.

All in all I have to say that I really love Memonic and it helps me in various situation of daily life.
