Memonic got its first important nomination: Best Business Idea 2010!
Internet World Business is Germany's largest trade journal covering the Internet economy. The journal nominated Memonic as best business idea 2010. A jury of ten renowned venture capitalists and business angels scouted for 20 worthy ideas.
Jury member Cédric Köhler, Creathor Venture, says: “Next to networking the Internet serves as source of information to many. Memonic satisfies an up to now unsatisfied need: Simply save your search and re-use your research.”
Agreed! Hence vote for Memonic here! You may vote until April 5, 2010. Big hugs to everyone voting for us!

Over at MakeUseOf.com they published a nice review of Memonic this week. They write:
"This tool helps you aggregate that information in one location. This is much better than just bookmarking the site. What if the site is no longer available? Then you are out of luck. Instead let’s file away our information!"
Thanks guys!
Today, 20Min Online, (the most read news website in Switzerland) did an interview with Dorian on Memonic, its origin, the current state and our plans, including a little screencast explaining our application (German).
Update (26 January 2010): Primer in 20 Minutes print today - "Zürcher Start-up organisiert Web-Infos" (pdf).
We're happy to officially announce newly released iPhone application. To make it a bit more formal we just did our first News Release (german only; see our press & media corner for more detail).
A couple of days ago, Simon Wüthrich published a nice article in the Zürichsee Zeitung on how to best plan your next holiday trip, say to Rome. (Why not Paris? We'd have a movie for the travel case to the city of romance). We get a nice mention. Read the article here (pdf, 245kb, German)
Last week we launched memonic.com at the Swiss Innovation Forum in Basel. We went there with no expectations. We haven't been there ever before, so difficult to gauge any potential interest.
We were positively surprised. From 9am to 7pm we were pitching our solution quasi non-stop to dozens of conference visitors. Most surprising was the genuine interest from corporate quarters. The guests at our booth immediately saw the potential of our solution when applied to their everyday humdrum problems when doing research, say in a bank or in a large pharmaceutical company. And that even though our solution still lacks crucial collaboration features.
It goes without saying that we will strive hard to come up with a package that will surpass the expectations.

Booth at the Swiss Innovation Forum.
True in Nektoon colors, but then we had to hand-in
all materials back in August, when the name was
still pending legal clearance.
Since it we had quite a ride. Our quiet launch policy is simply due to the fact that even we ourselves still miss a number of features dearly in the public version. Yet it took off quite heavily: Lot's of tweets on Twitter, and quite a number blog posts and some media stories. See for yourself (Collected press clippings).
Thank you for your warm welcome of memonic.com!

The Netzwoche, a Swiss ICT trade journal, asks how the current economic crisis impacts startups in Switzerland. Conclusion: If you have good idea and a solid business case, there is always a glimmer of hope and a chance to succeed, even in difficult market environments.
We couldn’t agree more!
