New features: Badge and Premium subscriptions

Today we rolled out two new features on Memonic.

Badge

Memonic Badge example

With the badge you embed a Memonic Set into any web page. There are many potential uses for that. Just a few examples:

  • Insert it to the right column of your blog so that visitors to your blog see what you're currently researching.
  • Combine background material to a blog post in a Set and insert a badge for that Set into the blog post.
  • Add your Web development Set to your company Wiki for easy access by your colleagues.

We're sure you have many more ideas on how to use this.

To create a badge, use the context menu of a Set and then use the option "Embed into webpage".

The badge will only display public items. So make sure you use the toolbar drop-down "Permissions..." to change the permissions of your Items to public.

Premium subscriptions

Free accounts now have limits. If you want to use Memonic to the full potential, you'll need to purchase a Memonic Premium subscription. We currently offer an introductory price of €29 Euros. Students profit from an additional €10 Euros discount.

Attached files in MemonicFinally - File Attachments!

Until today Memonic had great tools to save parts of any web page. Now you can also store normal documents. So you can for example clip the flight plan you're booking and then attach the booking confirmation they send you as a PDF document.

You can create Items with attachments in two ways. Either open an existing Item and attach files or send us your information by email.

An all new Hompage

Keep the Essential of everything that matters. Just as simple.Additionally we redesigned the homepage to make it easier for new users to understand what Memonic is about.

As always you find all the details of this release in our release notes.

Today's changes: February 1, 2010

We just released a new version of Memonic with quite some improvements and bug fixes. The two biggest changes are the new Gravatar integration and a completely reworked web clipper.

Gravatar

Gravatar on memonic.comWe now use Gravatar on collections so that you can more easily recognize which collection you're currently viewing.

Web Clipper

The web clipper got a complete redesign and is now a lot nicer on the eye. Also the options are persistent, so you won't have to assign the Set and permissions every single time.

All details as always in our full release notes.

Le notizie di oggi: 28 gennaio 2010

Oggi un annuncio per i nostri amici italiani: Memonic è disponibile da oggi in italiano! (Unica eccezione: l'aiuto e le pagine “chi siamo” devono essere ancora tradotti).

More languages are following. And in case your language isn't available yet get in touch with us: We could need a little help translating Memonic to yet more languages.

Today's changes: January 14, 2010

New year, new deck of cards. We're rolling out a heap of new features, our all new iPhone application surely standing out. Here some of the highlights (full release notes).

Read more here and get the Memonic app from the iTunes store now.

Mobile version

In our last release we introduced a mobile version available on any device. Today we add your Set list to the mobile edition. Plus when accessing Memonic through a mobile device you are automatically redirected to the mobile version.

Highlight search results

Nifty when searching: highlighting of the search terms in yellow color.

As always we appreciate your feedback!

Today's changes: December 22, 2009

Even though it's nearly Christmas, we added a couple of nifty features. Let me pick three: A first go at a mobile version, improved set menus, remove sets on the list view.

Mobile version

You may access your collection on any mobile on m.memonic.com. Building on Yahoo's Blueprint framework, we rapidly developed a mobile version optimized for thousands of mobile devices. See here two examples of the my collection rendered on an iPhone and on Opera Mini.

Improved set menus

We received a number of feedbacks on the usability of our set menus. We improved: You may access the most important actions directly by clicking on the set drop down.

Remove sets in list view

So far you had to be on a detail item to remove a set. As from now you may do so right in the list view.

As always we welcome your feedback!

Today's changes: December 8, 2009

We've been busy lately with a number of updates and improvements. We always will document our full release notes here. Here a summary of the highlights:

----

You may now share all your items very easily not just by email but also share your items directly with Twitter or to your Facebook page.

Sharing

----

We improved also our short URL service. Click on the designated link to generate a Short URL or - for your private items - a guestpass to the item selected.

----

Probably the most nifty feature are the Atom feeds for sets. You may read the feeds of your friends (and your own) with any feed reader.

The feeds allow you to create an automatic publishing system by including a feed widget into your website. On clipping simply select the "Options" menu and save your item straight to the desired public set (select permission level for the item itself public, too) and the item will automatically appear on your web page. Example on my personal web page with my public Memonic items.

----

Plus we improved the introductory tour. A brief must read for new users in just six pages.

As always we welcome your feedback!

A glimpse of Nektoon

Yesterday we launched a limited technical test version for subscribers of our newsletter (1).

Just a bit over ten weeks after our start, we are proud to ship what we call “Easy Clip” tool. It is just only the first part of our three-step vision Clip-Organize-Share.

The Easy-Clip tool, allows you to mark, copy and store parts of any webpage for later re-use and sharing.

The goal of this limited test is early bird user feedback. With vigour we work on our next goal: The visual user interface, steps 2 & 3 of our vision.
